#WalangTubig: Maynilad announces temporary water interruption of up to 18 hours

Water concessionaire Maynilad announced on Thursday, October 17 that their customers will experience a rotational service interruption of up to 18 hours following the decreasing level of Angat and Ipo Dams.

In an advisory posted on their Facebook page, Maynilad said it may implement daily rotational water service interruption due to insufficient rains over Angat and Ipo watersheds during the last few days.

The post didn’t specified the dates of the said water interruptions.

“Unti-unti na namang bumababa ang antas ng tubig sa Angat at Ipo dams. At dahil nananatili sa 40 cubic meters per second (cms) lamang—mula sa normal na 48cms—ang kasalukuyang alokasyon ng tubig mula sa Angat Dam, kapos ang raw water supply na pumapasok sa Ipo Dam at sa treatment facilities ng Maynilad,” the caption reads.

Among the areas affected are Navotas, Muntinlupa, Manila, Malabon, Makati, Las Piñas, Caloocan, Parañaque, Pasay, Quezon City and Valenzuela. It will also affect cities in Cavite province such as Kawit, Rosario, Noveleta and Bacoor and Meycauayan in Bulacan.

“At dahil nananatili sa 40 cubic meters per second (cms) lamang—mula sa normal na 48cms—ang kasalukuyang alokasyon ng tubig mula sa Angat Dam, kapos ang raw water supply na pumapasok sa Ipo Dam at sa treatment facilities ng Maynilad,” it added.

According to reports, Angat Dam is currently at 187.53 meters, slightly above its 180 meters normal level while the Ipon Dam is at 100.76 meters, already below the 101-meter maintaining level.
