Vice President Leni Robredo issues an apology on her picture together with members of the Liberal Party taken at the sacred Berlin Holocaust Memorial in Germany.
The said photo that has gone viral in social media earned mixed reactions from netizens.
In her statement, the Vice President said that it was never their intention to offend the “sensitivities of the people” and that she is taking full responsibility of the said incident.
The vice-president said that she understands the criticism due to the picture, and that she has no excuse for the photo.
Robredo was joined by Sen. Francis Pangilinan, Dinagat Islands Rep. Arlene Bag-ao, Ifugao Rep. Teodoro Baguilat Jr., Quezon City Rep. Bolet Banal, Quezon City Rep. Jose Christopher Belmonte, and Marikina Rep. Miro Quimbo.
The photo was initially posted by Baguilat, who took down the photo after receiving numerous criticisms from netizens.
The Holocaust Memorial, also known as the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, was built in remembrance for the six million Jews that were murdered during the Nazi regime.
Robredo and the lawmakers affiliated with the Liberal Part were in Berlin Germany for a study tour in poverty alleviation, and their trip was funded by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation.
