For the first time this season, Mono Vampires were victorious against Alab Pilipinas, beating the Philippine squad, 103-100, during the Game-2 of Best of Seven Finals Series of the ASEAN Basketball League.
In the game at Sta. Rosa Multipurpose Complex, Laguna, Sam Deguara registered 30 points and 20 rebounds to lead the Vampires in tying the Championship series 1-1
While, the home team depended on Renaldo Balkman, who scored 37 points along with 12 rebounds, to recover after trailing by 10 points in the middle of the second quarter.
With at least one minute left in the game, both teams were tied 98-all but a three point play from Deguara allowed the Vampires, to take the lead, 101-98.
Free throws from Balkman closed the lead of the Thai basketball team to a point, 101-100 however, Paul Zamar of the Vampires responded with his own free throws and brought their lead back to three points with 15 seconds left in the game.
Justin Brownlee, despite his injury, attempted to once again bring the game to overtime, but his two three-point attempts failed to meet its mark.
Both teams will now attempt to grab the lead in the Finals series in Game-3 that will happen in Bangkok, Thailand.
