Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal congratulated rising Filipina tennis star Alex Eala for her semifinals appearance in the 2020 French Open Juniors tournament in Paris, France.
Eala advanced to the semifinals of the tournament after beating Linda Noskova of Czech Republic in the quarterfinals.
The feat allowed the 15-years old Filipina, who garnered a total of 2,148.75 points, to jump from fourth place to second place in junior rankings of the International Tennis Federation.
Eala currently studies and trains in the Rafa Nadal Academy, a tennis academy established by the 34-year old Spanish tennis star in Mallorca, Spain.
“Vamosssss. Very happy for you and keep up the hard work and great results,” said Nadal, the current champion of the men’s singles division of the French and the no. 2 ranked tennis player in the world, said in his Twitter post.
Eala saw her campaign in the French Open come to an end after losing to Elsa Jacquemot of France, who won the title after defeating Alina Charaeva of Russia in the Finals.
Jacquemot, who compiled with 2,261.25 points, moved up to the no.1 spot in the world junior rankings after winning the title.
Eala made a name for herself after she and Priska Madelyn Nugroho of Indonesia won the girls’ doubles title in the 2020 Australian Open last January.
