The match between Filipino boxing champion Jerwin Ancajas and Jonathan Javier Rodriguez has been cancelled.
Top Rank Boxing, the promoter of the fight, announced that the cancellation happened due to a visa issue with Rodriguez.
Ancajas was supposed to defend his IBF Junior Bantamweight belt against Rodriguez in an undercard fight of the match between WBC Super Featherweight champion Miguel and American boxer Jason Sosa on Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Dignity Health Sports Park in California, United States of America.
Meanwhile, Ancajas, whose team has been in California since Oct. 18, thanked his supporters and apologized for the cancellation of the fight.
“Humihingi po kami ng pasensya hindi po matuloy ang laban ko. Hindi ko alam anong dahilan ng camp Rodriguez ganon paman pasalamat paren kami sa lahat sumosoporta samin,” Ancajas said in a Facebook post.
Since winning the IBF Juniot Bantamweight belt in his match against Puerto Rican boxer McJoe Arroyo in 2016, Anacajas, who has a profession record of 31 wins, two draws, and one loss, has defended his title from seven challengers.
