The Ateneo de Manila University and the University of the Philippines (UP) have moved their school openings to August instead of the usual June school opening.
The two pioneering schools made the announcement on Thursday.
ADMU said the new school calendar will be effective for school year 2015 to 2016 for Loyola schools and professional or graduate schools following the approval of the board of trustees on Wednesday.
Ateneo neighbor UP, meanwhile, will start its school opening transition immediately after the Board of Regents approved the shift Thursday, UP Student Regent Krista Melgarejo said through Philippine Collegian.
However, UP Diliman would still stick with the June school year opening “due to opposition registered by sectors,” Melgarejo said.
