Undefeated Mighty Sports overcomes Al Wahda in Dubai tournament


Mighty Sports Philippines won against Syrian team Al Wahda, 85-81, at Shabab Al Ahli Gymnasium in Dubai, United Arab Emirates to sweep the group stage of the 30th Dubai International Basketball Championship.

Import Justin Brownlee scored 27 points and Filipino-American basketball player Roosevelt Adams registered 21 points as the Philippine representatives remain undefeated in the tournament

Still down by six points, 70-76, with less than five minutes left in the game, Adams started a 14-point run for Mighty Sports to grab an eight-point lead in the final seconds.

The Philippine squad seized their fourth straight victory even after losing Brownlee due to injury with at least a minute in the final period.

Former NBA star Jordan LaVell Adams finished with 22 points to lead Al Wahda. Bilal Abdullah contributed 16 points while Omar Ali finished with 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Syrian team.

Mighty Sports, currently, waits for the group stage to wrap up to determine their opponents for the quarterfinals.
