The camp of Vice President Leni Robredo responded to the criticisms made by House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano regarding her activities following her appointment as co-chair of the Inter-agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs.

Kung hindi magawang tumulong ni Speaker Cayetano sa ginagawang trabaho ni VP, kahit man lang umiwas muna siya sa paninira,” Atty. Barry Gutierrez, spokesperson of Robredo, said in a statement.

In a televised interview, Cayetano said that Robredo ‘is starting on the wrong mouth’ after she proposed scrapping Oplan Tokhang and having the United Nations probe the war against illegal drugs in the Philippines even though she has not yet to be briefed by other members of ICAD.

The House Speaker also said that the anti-illegal drug campaign has transformed from Oplan Tokhang to Oplan All Talk because of the recent media exposure of the Vice President.

In response, Gutierrez stressed that Robredo has just started in the job given to her by President Rodrigo Duterte and it has not been a week since she accepted her appointment.

The camp of the Vice President also mentioned the need for the government to help one another in the campaign against illegal drugs.

Kung ganito pa lang kaaga mag-aaway-away na tayo, ang mga drug lords lang ang matutuwa,” Gutierrez said.
