UAAP suspends beach volleyball games due to thunderstorms

The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) suspended three semifinals games of the men’s and women’s beach volleyball tournament on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at Sands at SM by the Bay in Pasay City because of thunderstorms that lasted for two hours

Officials halted the games after James Natividad and James Buytrago of the National University Bulldogs won the first set, 21-13, of their match against Jude Garcia and Kevin Hadlocon of the Far Eastern University Tamaraws.

Earlier, Jaron Requinton and Rancel Varga of the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers seized the first finals slot in the men’s beach volleyball tournament after beating Leo Miranda and Jesus Valdez of the Adamson Soaring Falcons.

Officials also postponed the game between Babylove Barbon and Gen Eslapor of the UST Tigresses against Ponggay Gaston and Roma Mae Doromal of the Ateneo Lady Eagles, and the match between Tin Tiamzon and Justine Jazareno of the De La Salle University Lady Spikers against Sheena Gallentes and Shiela Kiseo of the FEU Lady Tamaraws.

UAAP re-scheduled the affected games to Saturday, Oct. 5.
