Potential state witness Ruby Tuason described herself as a conduit, or a “go-between” between Senator Jinggoy Estrada and Pork Barrel Fund scam mastermind Janet Lim-Napoles.
However, Tuason said that she has no records of every delivery of money, including the exact date and amount of money she gave the Senator.
At first, Tuason admitted that Senator Estrada wasn’t interested in doing transactions with Ms. Napoles, but the Senator had a change of heart when the Pork Barrel fund scam mastermind said that she is giving 40 percent commission.
Based on Tuason’s statement, the commission was given to Estrada but the latter returned the money.
Tuason added that it was only Jinggoy who knew of the reason why the transaction was cancelled between him and Napoles, and why the money was returned one to two weeks after that.
At the Senate hearing, Tuason was asked why she decided to come out and admit everything she knows about the two controversial cases.
The former social secretary of former President and now Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada said that it was her conscience that made her do it.
In Tuason’s testimony, she said that she stayed inside the church for a few days, crying, and asking for forgiveness to the Lord for all the mistakes she committed.
She felt that she was “Judas Escariote” after flying to the US when the Pork Barrel Fund scam issue broke out.
Mrs. Tuason felt guiltier after she saw the plight of the victims of typhoon Yolanda through the Filipino channel. That urged her to speak out and tell the truth.
She however said that she never got to talk to Senator Juan Ponce-Enrile regarding the Senator’s PDAF. Tuason dealt with Atty. Gigi Reyes instead. though Reyes was hesitant to meet Napoles at first, but they met eventually.
Tuason mentioned famous restaurants as their meeting places but there were times when they would do pick ups at her own home. After a few transactions, all deliveries happened directly.
Meanwhile, whistleblower Benhur Luy confirmed that allegedly Napoles told him that it was as waste that the transaction between the latter and the Senator didn’t push through.
