Tigers draw first blood, take game 1

“We are the Tigers, the mighty, mighty Tigers”… and true enough, the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers proved that heart is better than height.

The UST Tigers bites first to survive a La Salle comeback, 73-72, to take game one of the UAAP men’s Basketball Finals on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Tigers snapped the nine-game winning run of the Archers and inched closer to the championship after after a long draught.

Kevin Ferrer top scored  the Tigers with 14 points while Almond Vosotros led the Archers with 10.

The fight between the Tigers and the Archers has become more significant as two Tengs fight for supremacy.  Jeron Teng of the DLSU Archers was very efficient during the last minutes of the game, while “King Tiger” Jeric Teng kept his composure throughout the minutes he played.

Second game is set this Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
