The heated exchange of words between Camarines Sur Rep. Luis Raymund Villafuerte and House Majority Leader Rolando Andaya Jr. could have ended in a scuffle during Monday’s caucus at the lower house.
The incident occurred while the lawmakers were preparing for the plenary debate in relation to the proposed 2019 national budget.
According to Villafuerte, Andaya was allegedly taunting him as he remained calm.
Villafuerte added that Andaya shouted and cursed at him, which was witnessed by his fellow congressmen.
Villafuerte claimed that he has been a target of Andaya for a long time because of his position as governor in their province, which is now being occupied by Gov. Miguel Luis Villafuerte.
However, in a separate interview, Andaya denied Villafuerte’s claims.
According to the House Majority leader, he was not bullying anyone, especially in front of House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
Session ended quickly and they weren’t able to oust Davao City Rep. Karlo Nograles as head of the House Appropriations Committee, as previously reported.
