The Philippine eSports managed to win all five of its games against team Indonesia in the 2020 FIBA eSports Open.
Team Pilipinas completed its five-game sweep on Sunday, June 21, after defeating Indonesia, 71-35, in their final game during the three-day online international esports competition organized by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA).
Team Indonesia seized a five-point advantage in the 2nd quarter, 9-14, before a basket from Custer Galas alias Aguila, and a three-pointer from Aljun Cruzon alias Shintarou allowed the Philippine team to take the lead, 17-14.
The Filipinos took the lead for good after a three-pointer from Aguila cupped off a 13-point scoring run that widened the point difference, 46-21.
The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) congratulated and thanked Rocky Brana, Philippe Alcaraz IV, Clark Banzon, Al Timajo, Rial Polog Jr., Cruzin and Galas for their going undefeated in the inaugural online basketball tournament of FIBA.
“SBP is very proud of you all! Keep on playing and improving for future FIBA ESports tournaments. Remain humble but hungry,” SBP president Al Panlilio said in a statement.
