The Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) on Wednesday expressed gratitude to President Benigno S. Aquino III, congressmen and senators for passing the approval of the P3.002-trillion proposed National Budget which includes the education budget.

ACT and other teachers group were very happy that the biggest chunk of the budget will be allocated for the Department of Education (DepEd) which is whooping P436.5 billion.

Included in the P436.5 billion of DepEd is the salary increase for public elementary and secondary school teachers and non-teaching personnel nationwide.

DBM said the entry pay of Teacher 1 level will be PhP 29,800 monthly and PhP 16, 000 for the non-teaching personnel.

Presently, a Teacher 1 gets Php 18,549 while a non-teaching personnel (entry level) gets about Php 10,000. A Master Teacher 1 has a Php 35,000 monthly salary.

ACT is planning to hold a rally during President Aquino’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 17 to ensure the enactment of the law for the public school teachers’ salary increase in 2016. (Joel C. Atencio)

  3. I believe the commitment of our president for the increase of our salary. When I was a teacher 1, way backed 1992, my salary is just almost 2k, but when the late Pres. Cory Aquino assumed Office as President of the Republic of the Philippines, her prime concern is to increase our salary so that teachers will never dream to go abroad to seek for greener pasture. I was not convince to go abroad because Madame President Aquino is gradually increasing the salaty of Teachers. I saw in the face of our beloved President Ninoy Aquino that they have the same perspective to increase the standard of living of all teachers the same true with his Mom. So I have no doubt that our intelligent and merciful president, the pride of all teachers in the entire Philippines will approve the cry and crussade of the alliance of concerned teachers, that is also supported by all teachers in Central Visayas, the increase of salary of Teachers which goes far to Php. 29,800.00. Kudos to all Teachers, our beloved President Pinoy love us. Thank you.

All must have in mind to push and see through the implementation of this budget in 2016. The president who wins next year might have another agenda and that spells disaster for the teachers again!

  5. Expecting this is not on time yet…Better to receive before saying Hail!!!!

  7. Tingnan nyo talaga kayong mga Pilipino kayo, pag may nagagawang maganda and pangulo, respeto at pag may nagagawang mali, batikos agad.Mga Balimbing. kaya ayoko na sa Pilipinas.

Teachers are the most overworked and under payed of all government employees. They devout almost whole of their time to their work to the point of neglecting their families. It is true that teachers have that duty to fulfill but it should not be forgotten that they are human. They are abound with needs and these must be addressed appropriately and accordingly. It is but just that they, be given enough support and compensation.

  9. What about Kindergarten teachers? Are they being funded by DepEd, and if so, what is their monthly stipend?

    Respectfully, Dale Head

    • I am a kindergarten teacher in a publuc school… our position is teacher 1… so we recieve the same salary… hopefull there will really be an increase… to teach in remote area is not easy specially that we have to supply almost everything to students.. from out own pocket just to make the learning possible for the students.

How about the retirees? Are they not entitled to pension hike? We have also served the government during the best days of our life. I gfor one served for 43years in the government particularly in the Department if Education. Hpw i widh retirees get attention too. Thank you.

  15. whst about teachers frm ched and tesda? di kasali?

  16. Aldwin Nilles

    How about the retired teachers?

  17. Is this for the DepEd only? what about for the CHED? Is there any budget allocated for SUC’s?

  21. what about salary increase for nurses? They deserve it more. Does teachers works nightshifts? Nurses don’t even have a summer vacation. Can’t even have a decent lunchbreak. Please help them too pinoy.

    • Yes everyone deserves for a salary increase… Wala pong nightshift ang teachers pero after class andami po naming ginagawa pa na lesson plan at preparation for the next day class… may test exam pa na gagawin… may grades pa na bubunuin… try to become a teacher in a public school and compare… baka masabi mong babalik ka na lang sa pagiging nurse…

  22. i hope that this would be for real… we included in our prayers that God will enlightened the minds of these people to approved the teachers salary…
this really give a big help…

  23. Teachers deserved a salary increase, you see even if my daughter is sick i still have to think of my students, need to make some activity for them before i can have my leave…

  24. The employees’ salary now is still under/during the former administration. The last trance of the Arroyo administration. So if Pnoy will increase the salaries of teachers that’s good enough as a legacy under his six-year administration. And it should not be only teachers but all government employees.

  25. aquino’s family have a great concern to our teachers, not just one of them have the same views about techers’ sakes but all of them.. i really admire pinoy for his dedicated works to d country. when i was reading the article, one has come on my mind, that is, pinoy doesnt 4got those who deserves to wealth..

  27. I am just about to commence building my career in DEPED. I hope this will be approved. It would be a great start for me. I wish this would be implemented this year, parallel to the preparation of the teachers to the K12 system.

    #sana totoo ito
    #salamat

  28. Romeo Tolentino

Sana po, for the next six years the government may consider a yearly increase of P7,000. per month. so that after the sixth year, the monthly salary of Teacher1 shall be P71,800.

  31. Thank for giving us salary increase. We’ll wait.

  32. Thanks.

  33. Lilibel L. Amoy

This is a big help specially for us teachers who has to travel 26 kilometers (one way) daily to reach our station through a rough, slippery and steep roads…

  34. How about CHED affiliated teachers? Will they also have a salary increase? For example Instructor 1, 2, 3…so on and so forth up to the University Professor?

  35. ung hardship.nmen since last year p hangang ngaun wla p..ano kya ang nangyari..mtgal n sobra

  36. dto po ung samar division…hardship nmen nung 2013 hanggang ngaun wla pa…ibbgay p kya yan…

  37. If only one of the officials will become our pupil\student for him/her to experience personally the hardship of a teacher..teachers that were assign in far plung areas sacrifice a lot..not just for the improvement of teaching-learning process but also to cope up for the personal needs of their student.providing food..clothes and sometimes shelter just to make sure a child finishes his education.
These are just few reason why teachers ask for salary increase..
