Super Junior’s Label SJ announced on Thursday that aside from Kangin, who is still doing self-reflection after his drunk-driving incident, Sungmin will also not be participating in the group’s comeback album and SM Town’s concerts.
According to the statement issued by SJ Label, “Sungmin would not be joining the SM Town concerts due to the recent fan boycott.”
The statement also added that they respect Sungmin’ decision and that though he will not be participating in their upcoming album, they will support Sungmin’s future activities.
Sungmin on Thursday issued in his personal social media account regarding his decision to withdraw from Super Junior’s comeback album. In his post, the singer-actor first apologized to his fans for troubling them and responding a little bit too late on the many issues surrounding him.
He also admit to not being “considerate and truthful” to his fans and that he should’ve “communicated better” with them.
In the end, he asked his fans to continue supporting Super Junior and that he needs more time to reflect and will work harder in the future.
The issue stemmed after some South Korean fan sites expressed their distaste on how Sungmin handled the announcement of his marriage to actress Kim Sa Eun, and how he allegedly disrespected the feelings of his supporters.
