A businessman insisted on his innocence from the 2004 Fertilizer Fund Scam by disassociating himself from his wife.

In the motion filed by Pompey Perez in the Sandiganbayan, he asked for the dismissal of the graft and malversation charges filed against him by the Office of the Ombudsman last April.

Perez insisted that he should not be among the respondents since he is no longer connected with the private supplier Perzebros Co. when the alleged anomaly happened in 2004.

The businessman added that he was only implicated due to his former wife, North Cotabato district Rep. Nancy Catamco, who is also one of the respondents.

Perez further claimed that, while his marriage with Catamco was only annulled in May 28, 2007, they have been living separately even before May 2004.

Catamco and Perez were the former owners of Perzebros Co.
