A congressman from Sulu wants the perpetrators of the two explosions at the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cathedral in Jolo, Sulu to be killed by a firing squad.
In a statement, House Deputy Speaker Rep. Munir Arbison said that the bombings on Sunday, Jan. 27, are un-Islamic and inhuman.
“We strongly condemn the bombing of Jolo church. This is an un-Islamic and inhuman act. The one who is responsible for this terrorist attacked should be put to firing squad,” Arbison said.
Meanwhile, Sulu caretaker Puwersa ng Bayaning Atleta (PBA) partylist Rep. Jericho Nograles trusts that the recent bombing, which he called cowardly, will strengthen the resolve of the government to rid the province of terrorists.
“We condemn in strongest possible terms the bombing of Jolo Cathedral killing civilian and military personnel. I call upon the military and police to bring the perpetrators to justice as soon as possible,” Nograles said.
“We offer our condolences to the families of the victims. We pray for your loss and grieve with you. I trust President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and his administration will do the best they can for Sulu and the Philippines. No to terror. Yes to peace,” the congressman added.
House Speaker Gloria Macapagal also assured that the government ‘will do everything to make things right’ and asked the residents of Jolo ‘to not lose heart’.
“That’s really very tragic. I am anxious to go back to Manila now so we can find out what Congress can do from our end,” Arroyo said during an ambush interview at the Laguindingan Airport in Misamis Oriental.
