President Benigno Aquino III’s order to force all factory owners in the metro to follow all fire safety measures will be difficult to implement.
This was the reaction of Valenzuela Cong. Magtanggol Gunigungo regarding PNOY’s orders amid the findings on the reason behind the death of the 72 factory workers of Kentex Inc.
Based on the report, the factory had no fire exits and sprinkler system. Gunigundo said that it’s nice that the President feels sympathy to the victims of the Kentex fire but his order will be difficult to implement.
The issue stemmed from President Aquino’s order that all 300 thousand factories in the Metro should pass the fire safety inspection clearance because they could operate.
However, though this will be difficult for the employers, the lawmaker insisted that that this should be followed so that we won’t have a repeat of what happened to the Kentex factory.
Gunigundo said that it’s the responsibility of DILG Secretary Mar Roxas to make sure that these factories are following orders, whether they’re big time or small scale companies.
