SHINee member Kim Jong-Hyun laid to rest

The exact words that were engraved in the plaque that was being carried by Minho as relatives and close friends of SHINee’s Jonghyun bade him farewell on Thursday, December 21.

SHINee members Minho, Onew, Key, and Taemin together with Super Junior Leeteuk, Eunhyuk and Donghae led the funeral procession and carried his coffin from Seoul’s Asan hospital and loaded it into a vehicle that will take his coffin into his undisclosed final resting place.

Present during the funeral procession where Jonghyun’s label mates at SM Entertainment, including members from Girls’ Generation, Super Junior, Red Velvet, F (x), Kangta, among others.

Jonghyun was rushed to the hospital on Monday, December 18 after his sister contacted the police because she was alarmed with the message sent to her by the SHINee member.

According to police reports, Jonghyun’s death was caused by coal briquette poisoning.

His final letter was released to the public on Monday where he revealed his most hidden sufferings.

“I’m broken from the inside,” the note read, “The depression that has slowly eaten away at me has finally consumed me, and I couldn’t beat it.”

Family, friends, and fans have all extended their condolences to the family of Jonghyun while raising awareness on the important issue of mental health and depression.
