Senator Serge Osmena has dared the Commission on Elections to launch a “shame campaign” against candidates who continue to violate the poll body’s regulations in connection with the coming May elections, instead of conducting its usual “Oplan Baklas.”
The said challenge came after the COMELEC admitted that it is disappointed that its “Oplan Baklas” has no effect on the candidates as they continue to put up campaign materials in prohibited areas.
According to Osmena, if the COMELEC will mention the names of the candidates who violated the campaign rules, there is a big possibility that they will be ashamed of it, instead of any kind of operation to remove their campaign paraphernalia.
The Senator added that if the COMELEC is serious to implement its campaign for candidates to place their posters in the common poster areas, the commission needs a shame campaign for it.
The COMELEC gave all candidates until tomorrow to remove all their campaign materials from prohibited areas.
