Senate has started its investigation on the alleged ill-gotten wealth of Commission on Elections Chairman Andres Bautista that was exposed by his estranged wife, Patricia Paz Bautista.

However, the Senate Committee on Banks, Financial Institutions and Currencies did not invite the Bautistas for Wednesday’s hearing.

According to Senator Francis Escudero, the committee do not wish for the personal and domestic issues of the couple to affect their investigation on the alleged 35 bank accounts of Chair Bautista.

Sen. Escudero explained that the hearing is focused on the involvement of the Anti-money Laundering Council in examining the alleged ill-gotten wealth of Chairman Bautista.

Officials of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and AMLC attended the said hearing.
