The Senate Committee on Justice and Human Rights its committee result on its investigation on the allegation of extra-judicial killings in the country.
According to Senator Richard Gordon, chairman of the said committee, part of their recommendation will be the filing of criminal charges and perjury to Edgar Matobato, a self-confessed member of the alleged Davao Death Squad.
Gordon added that the committee is convinced that the Philippine National Police had shortcomings in resolving the issues of alleged extra-judicial killings, especially when some members of the PNP are involved.
The Senator said that the testimonies were not enough to establish the involvement of President Rodrigo Duterte in the EJK, especially in the so-called Davao Death Squad when he was still the mayor of Davao city.
However, Gordon said that included in the committee report will be providing a warning to the President on how he should be careful with his words when it comes to sensitive issues.
