The Senate finally resumed their session this November 16.
The resumption of Senate session was supposed to happen last Nov. 13 but it was delayed due to the 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit.
According to Senate President Aquilino ‘Koko’ Pimentel III, the Senate will prioritize discussing the 2018 General Appropriations Act and the proposed tax reform package.
Since the Senate is already behind schedule, Pimentel said that the plenary deliberations for the two proposals will last until evening.
The sessions of the Senate were only supposed to happen from Mondays to Wednesdays. However due to the ASEAN Summit, Pimentel called for a session this Thursday and Friday.
Meanwhile, Sen. Juan Sonny Angara, chairman of the Committee on Ways and Means, said that they target to approve the tax reform package before the Christmas season.
Malacañang also hopes that President Rodrigo Duterte will sign the 2018 national budget and tax reform package before Christmas.
