The Senate on Tuesday approved its version of the 2019 national budget.
In line with this, the proposed budget will go through the Bicameral Conference Committee.
The Senate sliced funds from some agencies, including the Php75 billion budget supposedly allocated for the Department of Public Works and Highways.
Also, the pork insertions in the budget of the Department of Interior and Local Government and savings of the government, which some agencies can ask for support, were also cut from the proposed national budget for this year.
The Php 3.757 trillion pesos 2019 national budget approved by the Senate is the 2019 General Appropriations Act.
Leaders from the Lower House are expected to react on the move of the Senate to cut down some of the proposed budgets of some agencies, but they will try to come up with a solution during the Bicam Conferences.
As soon as the 2019 General Appropriations Act will be ratified, it will be submitted to President Rodrigo Duterte so that he can sign it into law.
