Senator Sonny Angara, chairman of the Senate Committee on Local Government, has formally endorsed the postponement of the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections, which was originally set this coming October.

Based on the proposal of Sen. Angara, the Brgy. and SK elections will be moved on the last Monday of October, 2017.

Twenty two Senators signed the committee report of Senator Angara for the postponement of the barangay and SK elections.

On Monday, the Commission on Elections also halted the printing of the official ballots to be used for both elections after President Rodrigo Duterte stated that he supports the postponement.

The COMELEC stated in its release that they will wait for a joint resolution from Congress until September 1; if there is no resolution released by then, they will resumed with the printing of ballots.
