Senator Sherwin Gatchalian has recommended to stagger the funding of the Free Tertiary Education Act which sees to provide free tuition to students of State Universities and Colleges all over the Philippines.
This if the government cannot immediately allocate the Php 100 billion worth of funds needed for the education of more than 5.6 million students of the state universities and colleges.
According to Sen. Gatchalian, for 2017, the savings of the government agencies can be used to fund the new law.
Sen. Gatchalian believes that, through the said method, the government will not have difficulties to provide for the budget of free education
Under the new legislation, the government will answer the tuition, miscellaneous fees, and student loans of all indigent students in every local universities and colleges.
