Sen. Juan ‘Sonny’ Angara announced on Thursday, March 26, that he has tested positive for the 2019 Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19).
Angara, the third senator to test positive for COVID-19, said that he has been feeling some symptoms connected to the virus including mild fever, cough, headaches and general weakness.
The senator assured that he has not been in contact with the public since taking the COVID-19 test in March 16.
“I ask for your prayers that together we are able to pull through this tremendous challenge,” Angara said in a statement.
“Let us continue to support all efforts to fight the further spread of the virus. Let us support our frontliners on the streets, in the emergency rooms as they are key to the effort. With hope, sacrifice, and unity of effort, we shall overcome,” he added.
Aside from Angara, senators Juan Miguel Zubiri and Aquilino ‘Koko’ Pimentel III have tested positive for COVID-19.
