Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Sec. Ramon Lopez admitted that manufacturers of some Noche Buena items, including  mayonnaise, fruit salad, and ham, have requested permission to increase the price of their products due to the upcoming holiday season.

Lopez added that some producers of canned goods also have pending requests for a price hike since the cost of fish and tin plate has also went up. However, the DTI plans to plead for these manufacturers to postpone adjusting the price of their products.

Of course, we would suggest na bilhin nila yung tingin nila ‘value for money’ or yung mas mura, na for the same quality” Lopez said during DZRH’s Isyu.

Meanwhile, Lopez believes that brands of pastas and spaghetti sauce will not implement a price hike but rather have a promo for their products based on his experience.
