Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III admitted that the Department of Labor and Employment has contractual employees.
During the budget hearing this August 16, Sec. Bello said that DOLE has 686 job order employees that they wish to regularize but lacks the funds to do so.
According to Sec. Bello, the budget of DOLE must be increased in order for the said job order employees to be regularized.
About 63,000 employees of DOLE were made regular after the government agency released the order against the practice of ‘End of Contractualization’ or Endo.
However, about 22,000 employees from private companies are still in the process of regularization.
Labor groups and unions have criticized DOLE for their methods to end the problem of Endo. They accused the government agency of being coward and siding with the employers.
