The Office of the Sandiganbayan approved the motion of the three congressmen with pending cases, to accompany President Rodrigo Duterte on his trip to China and Hong Kong.
The three includes Cong. Arthur Yap of Bohol, Antonio Floirendo Jr. of Davao Del Norte, and Luis Raymund Villafuerta of Camarines Sur.
They will be part of the president’s delegation to the mentioned trips next week.
Yap’s motion to travel was approved by the Sandiganbayan 3rd division while Floirendo and Villafuerte’s motions were approved by the 6th division.
Based on the urgent motion filed by the three solons, they were allegedly advised by the Office of the Presidential Protocol to join the President in the BOAO Forum for Asia in Hainan Province in China from April 9-10, and a working visit to Hong Kong from April 10-13.
Yap is facing two counts of graft charges in connection with the alleged irregularities in the car loans of the Board of Trustees of the Philippine Rice Research Institute or PHILRICE from 2008 to 2009.
He is also facing graft, malversation and malversation through falsification of public documents as co-accused in the Pork Barrel Fund scam case of former Misamis Occidental Rep. Marina Clarete.
Meanwhile, Floirendo is facing charges in connection with the anomalous lease on the land of the Davao Penal Colony in Tagum Agricultural Development Authority.
Villafuerte is facing three counts of graft in relation with the questionable acquisition of crude oil amounting to php 20 million in 2010.
