Filipino boxer Vic Saludar became the new WBA world minimum weight champion.
Saludar earned the belt after winning via split decision against fellow Filipino boxer Robert Paradero on Saturday, February 20, at the the Biñan Football Stadium in Laguna.
Two judges scored the 12-round bout, 116-112 and 115-113, in favor of Saludar, while the remaining judge gave a score of 118-110 for Paradero.
Aside from the title, the victory allowed Saludar, a former WBO world minimum weight champion, to improve his professional fight record to 21 wins, four losses, and 11 knockouts.
Paradero, meanwhile, tasted his first defeat after 19 fights.
