The Philippine team is now competing in the finals of the 2014 World Pool Team Championships.
Former World Champions Dennis Orcollo, Lee Van Cortez, Carlo Biado and Rubilen Amit beat the host and favorite team, China 1, four games to zero in the semi final showdown of the All Asian Final Four.
Corteza was on a roll in the 9 Ball singles, wiping out Li He Wen, 8 racks to 3 while Amat made sure that defending Woman’s World Champion Han Yu couldn’t position, 8 racks to 3.
Before making it to the final four, the Philippines had to kick out defending champion, Chinese Taipei in the quarterfinals, 4 games to 2.
As expected, the game went down the wire but the Filipinos emerged as the better players, with their experience and championship tradition.
The RP team awaits the winner between China versus Japan.
Japan won over the powerhouse team of Germany during the quarterfinals.
