Filipina caregiver Rose ‘Osang’ Fostanes was hailed as the first grand winner of “X Factor Israel”.
The 47-year-old Osang performed the classic Frank Sinatra’s “My Way”, accompanied by an orchestra.
During the live finale show on Tuesday (Wednesday morning in Manila), Osang was given a standing ovation by the judges and the audience as she performed her piece.
Osang was brought to tears when her name was announced as the first ever grand winner of the show. She was mentored by Israeli pop singer Shiri Maimon.
Her success proves that Filipino talent is worldwide and should be proud of.
Osang was an early favorite and emerged as a phenomenon in Israeli television.
Meanwhile, family and friends of Osang in Taguig City cheered in glee after her name was announced as the winner.
The family offered a prayer vigil for her success.
According to DZRH interview with Gina Fostanes, Osang’s sister, the family fears that Osang might not make it to the finals. She also doesn’t want Osang to feel insecure because the other contestants of the show have strong personalities.
The family was hesitant at first for Osang to join the said competition, but later on they showed their support and Osang’s hardship paid off.
Before the grand finals night, Osang’s sister doubts that the song ‘My Way’ is perfect for the new Filipina champion. She told Osang that the piece is too low and was made to be sung by a man. But Osang told her sister to trust in her because she will perform a new version of the piece.
Malacanang also extended their congratulatory message to Osang.
