Vice President Leni Robredo says it is ’embarrassing’ how Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s takeover as the House Speaker took place on the day of the State of the Nation Address (SONA) last Monday, July 23.
Robredo, during a chance interview with reporters on the launch of Marites Vitug’s Rock Solid book, added that the ouster of Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez from the post should be left to the lawmakers as an internal party matter.
“Parang iyong moment na iyon para kay Pangulo, pinapanood ng buong bansa, excited lahat para pakinggan what the President had to say, tapos iyong attention parang na-grab noong incident. Para sa akin, wrong timing siya,” Robredo addressed in the interview. She also added that the moment gave the public a hint of the current state of the nation, which happens to be unfortunate since there is an important event.
“Nakakahiya na pinapakita natin sa lahat na iyong pag-wrestle ng power, parang in full public view,” the Vice President said.
However, Robredo urged the public to be more vigilant on the different political movements happening in the country.
