The NLEX Road Warriors welcomed back Michael Miranda, who previously played for the PBA team from 2017 to 2018, to their line-up
Road Warriors announced on Tuesday, August 20, that PBA has approved the deal that allowed them acquire the services of Miranda from NorthPort Batang Pier and received Juami Tiongson in exchange.
NLEX said that head coach Joseller ‘Yeng’ Guiao cited the need to beef up the front line of the team as the cause for the trade.
“It so happened that Mike was available. Since Mike came from our team before and knows my system, he became a natural consideration,” Guiao said in a statement.
Guiao also explained that they did not want to give up Tiongson but North Port declined the second round pick offered by NLEX and the former insisted on acquiring the 28 year-old point guard.
“The mere fact that they insisted that he be part of the trade proves how much he has grown. He had actually just been granted a contract renewal with NLEX before the trade, which is an indication that he’s going to be in the league for a while. He has earned it,” Guiao added.
The Road Warriors thanked Tiongson, who played for the team since 2017, for his services and wished him more ore fulfilling years in the PBA.
“We’re happy to have been part of his improvement and his development in his career. I wish Juami the best and hope he plays well,” Guiao said.
