After a year-long hiatus, Wendy of Kpop girl group Red Velvet is coming back, this time, as a solo artist!
In a report from South Korean media outlet Soompi, STARNEWS reported on Wednesday, March 10 that the 27-year-old singer is preparing for her solo debut next month.
The news was also confirmed by Wendy’s label, SM Entertainment.
“Wendy is working on a solo album aimed for an April release. Please look forward to it,” the statement read.
Shortly after the confirmation, Reveluvs all over the world expressed their excitement on Wendy’s new endeavour with the keyword WENDY SOLO immediately trending on social media platform Twitter.
As of posting, the keyword is currently the number one trending topic in Twitter Philippines.
In December 2019, Wendy was injured during rehearsal for her supposed special performance for SBS Gayo Daejeon. She then took a long break from activities to recover her health.
Upon returning this year, Wendy has since made her return through song releases, a new variety show, and a long- awaited performance with Red Velvet.
Wendy will be the first member to debut as soloist in the group following the success of the subunit duo of her fellow members Irene and Seulgi last year.
