Retired Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) player Ranidel De Ocampo returns to the Talk N’ Text Katropa but as a member of its coaching staff.
Katropa team manager Gabby Cui confirmed on Monday, June 29, that De Ocampo joined the coaching staff of the PBA team.
“Coach Ranidel brings us a wealth of championship experience and basketball knowledge that will definitely help our team reach our aspirations for another championship,” Cui said in a statement.
De Ocampo won six PBA championships while playing for the Talk N’ Text franchise from 2008 to 2017.
The 6’6 forward was traded to the Meralco Bolts in 2017, and he played with the team until he announced his retirement last April.
Prior his retirement, the 38-year old basketball player was named a member of nine All-Star teams, three Mythical First teams, and the 2004-2005 All-Rookie team by the PBA.
He also won two PBA Finals Most Valuable Player awards, and the 2014 PBA Governor’s Cup Best Player of the Conference plum.
