Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas Inc. (LVPI) vice president Peter Cayco believes that commitment and scheduling conflicts pushed coach Ramil De Jesus to step down from the women’s national volleyball team.

It was recently reported that De Jesus has already resigned as head coach of the national team and that he was replaced by coach Shaq delos Santos.

Cayco pointed out that, aside from the national team, De Jesus is currently coaching three women’s volleyball teams: the De La Salle Lady and Baby Spikers, and the F2 Logistics.

The LVPI official added that he respects the decision of De Jesus and that he is also grateful to Delos Santos for accepting the position on a short notice.

On Tuesday, Delos Santos along with his coaching staff Kungfu Reyes and Brian Esquibel conducted try-outs for the national team at the Arellano University Gym in Sampaloc, Metro Manila.

The players that will be chosen for the national team will play for the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia this coming August, the 2018 Asian Women’s Volleyball Cup in Thailand in September, and the 2019 Southeast Asian Games happening in the Philippines.
