The Quezon City Regional Trial Court filed a libel case against City Mayor Herbert ‘Bistek’ Bautista.
Members of the Anakpawis and Kadamay group, led by party list Rep. Rafael Mariano, went to the court to file a complaint against Bautista for violating Article 353 of the revised penal code.
The group insisted that Bautista’s statements are malicious to the media that the group are asking P1,000 from every family, whose houses will be demolished in Agham road in exchange of protection for the informal settlers.
According to Mariano, it defamed the good reputation of their group, which fights for principle and duties for the benefit of the poor just like the informal settlers living in Agham road, Brgy. San Roque, Quezon City.
On the other hand, Bautista welcomed the libel case against him, saying that he will be standing by his statements that Anakpawis is asking money for their protection.
The former QC vice mayor insisted that not only he received an intelligence report from the QCPD but also text messages that demonizing Agham road residents to fight against the police and city hall employees.
He added that he’s ready to face any charges filed against him along with the appeal to Agham road residents to accept the relocation offer to live in Bulacan. (Chris Capulso, Judie Anne Abejero)
