Puerto Princesa residents call on COMELEC to review decision against their city mayor

Thousands of residents from Puerto Princesa City are asking the Commission on Elections to review its recall petition against Mayor Lucilo Bayron, for allegedly using fake names and signatures with “political-interest.”

Three thousand residents with the help of Atty. Jean Lou Aguilar filed a complaint at the office of the Deputy Executive Director for Operations of the COMELEC, asking for an in-depth review of its recall petition.

Aguilar mentioned that it’s the job of the COMELEC to know if its petition and supporting documents are approved, passed the process and documents have been verified.

The group’s main request from its letter of complaint to the COMELEC is to remove from the recall petition the fake names and falsified documents.

Aguilar is hoping that the COMELEC will be fair in treating their complaint, even if the recall petition will continue.   (with DZRH Rommel Fuertes)
