Publi school teachers all over the Philippines will have a sit down strike on Nov. 29 as they appeal for a wage hike.
According to Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT – Teachers) National chairperson Joselyn Martinez, participating educators will not teach in their classes, and some will also join protest movements.
The group believes that their wages should be adjusted due to the high inflation in the Philippines.
ACT Teachers admitted that the 14th month pay and the 5,000 cash gift to government employees are a great help. However, a large portion of those bonuses will be used to pay for their debts.
Aside from the wage increase, ACT Teachers are also asking for President Rodrigo Duterte to increase their personnel economic relief allowance to Php 5,000 from the current Php 2,000.
