The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), led by Chairman William Ramirez, and Manila City mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso reached an agreement on Wednesday, August 7, not sell the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex (RMSC).
The Manila Public Information Office reported this development through a Facebook post following a meeting between Domagoso and PSC officials at the Manila City Hall.
In another Facebook post, the PSC said that they will partner with Domagoso in creating a sports program for the youth of Manila City.
Reports on the alleged sale of the RMSC surfaced after former Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada planned to convert the said venue to a “sports, recreational and business center.”
The RMSC is currently undergoing renovations and is set to house sports events including the 2019 South East Asian Games, which the Philippines will be hosting from November 31 to December 11.
Sports like Men’s Football, Weightlifting, Taekwondo, Soft Tennis, Tennis, and Squash will be played in the said sports complex.
