Malacanang is assuring the public that there will be a price freeze on all bread products in the next two weeks.
This was stated by Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda after his meeting with Department of Trade and Industry Usec. Zeny Maglaya and Director Vic Dimaguiba with bakers at the Philippines Flour Millers Association in order to prevent the increase in prices of bread.
Lacierda said that the DTI is studying ways on how to solve the flour-millers’ problems.
According to Lacierda, the bakers are having problems because they wouldn’t want to use Filipino flour because of its alleged poor quality.
However, bakers insisted that they’re using Turkish flour because it’s cheaper than the Filipino flour.
Prior to this, there’s already a case of Turkish flour dumping at the Department of Agriculture because of its low price in the market.
Lacierda insisted that only the Pinoy pandesal and tasty breads will have an impending increase in prices.
