President Rodrigo Duterte, chairman of the 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations, together with his partner Cielito “Honeylet” Salvador Avanceña welcomed the members of the 10 nation-block and other world leaders at the Cultural Center of the Philippines early Monday morning to begin the various dialogues for the ASEAN Summit and other Related Meetings.
At the plenary, President Duterte stressed that the two-day meetings are crucial in creating a stronger ASEAN; the summit will be tackling common concerns, including trade and investment facilitation, innovation, addressing cybercrime, countering radicalization, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, connectivity, cooperation against human trafficking, strengthening the ASEAN community, and so on.
The attendance of the world leaders aims to forge strategic cooperation on areas of shared interest amongst the ASEAN members and its dialogue partners.

- US Commemorative Summit
- 20th ASEAN – China Summit
- 19th ASEAN – Republic of Korea Summit
- 20th ASEAN – Japan Summit
- APT Leaders Interface with East Asia Business Council
- 9th Mekong – Japan Summit
- 9th ASEAN – UN Summit
All the aforementioned meetings will be held at the Philippine International Convention Center.
