President Rodrigo Duterte will start reviewing the proposed Php 3.8 trillion national budget for 2019 on Friday, March 29.
Executive Sec. Salvador Medialdea said that he will allow the President to celebrate his birthday on Thursday, March 28, in Davao City before having him go back to work.
Senate President Vicente ‘Tito’ Sotto III on Tuesday, March 26, has signed the proposed 2019 national budget but with reservations due to questionable provisions including the Php 75 billion realignment to projects from the Department of Public Works and Highways.
In a statement, Presidential Spokesperson and Chief Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo assured that the Chief Executive ‘will go over the enrolled bill, scrutinize it and sign it should the same be in accordance with our Constitution and the laws’.
The President has also repeatedly promised to not sign the proposed national budget if it violates the Constitution.
