President Rodrigo Duterte returned to Davao after attending the 70th Anniversary of the Philippine Airforce in Airforce City, Pampanga.
The President and Vice President Leni Robredo met during the said occasion.
Before delivering a speech, Duterte greeted Robredo and repeatedly glanced at the direction of the Vice President, who responded with a smile.
The President also apologized for being two hours late due to strong rains, and his visit to the wake of the family massacred in San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan.
“I passed by Bulacan to visit the family of Carlos to condole with the father, the only remaining member of the family.” Duterte said during the 70th Anniversary of PAF. “It was my duty to be there and assure the people of the government’s action.”
For the occasion, Duterte also only read a prepared speech which only lasted for almost seven minutes due to the rain.
The President thanked PAF for their important participation in the operations against the Maute terror group in Marawi City, Lanao Del Sur.
Pres. Duterte also promised to continue to support the modernization program of PAF due to their involvement in fighting terrorism, and defending the territory of the Philippines.
As we wrap up in our campaign to liberate Marawi, I am confident that the Philippine Air Force will once again take an active role in the rebuilding of the city and uplifting the spirit of those affected by the conflict. We will rely on your valuable experience in humanitarian assistance and disaster response.” Duterte said.
