President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday, March 14, revealed the names of the 46 local government officials included in the government’s list of suspected narco-politicians.
The President said that the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) have verified the involvement of the said politicians in illegal drug operations.
He also said that the government has gathered enough evidence against the 46 narco-politicians and administrative charges have been filed against them.
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive explained that he only revealed the identities of the 46 suspected narco-politicians since the remaining names in the narco-list, said to include the names of 82 politicians, still needs to be verified.
“For the time being ito lang muna. Kasi validated na. Yung iba I just want to be double sure,” Duterte said during a meeting of the National Peace and Order Council in Davao City.
“I’m not really interested in releasing it before and after the election because I do not have the slightest intention to hurt anybody or to be a cause of a failure of election of a certain man who wants to serve the public,” Duterte explained.
DILG Asec. Jonathan Malaya sent a copy of the list containing the names of the 46 alleged narco-politicians, most of which are incumbent mayors, to DZRH.
