Senate President Vicente Sotto III is confident that President Rodrigo Duterte will not meddle in the ongoing feud at the House of Representatives.
According to Sotto, it’s not the President’s style to interfere unless he will be asked for his opinion on the said matter.
Currently, there is a power struggle inside the lower house because of alleged unfair distribution of infrastructure projects for their districts.
Sotto said that because of the tension in the lower house, there is a possibility that there will be a delay in the discussion of the proposed 2021 national budget.
The senator insisted that he is hoping that with the on-going power struggle amongst the lawmakers, this will not affect their decisions on next year’s national budget. We’re still going through a pandemic and we need all government programs to push through.
Prior to this, Sen. Panfilo Lacson already said that it leaves a bad impression for these lawmakers to continue fighting for infrastructure funds or their pork allocation amid the pandemic.
