President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday certified both versions of the Upper and Lower Houses’ Bangsamoro Basic Law as urgent.
According to Presidential Spokesman Atty. Harry Roque, after the deliberation, the President wanted to hasten the ratification of both BBL versions.
Roque added that as soon as the versions of both houses have been finalized, President Duterte will sign the BBL into law.
Special Assistant to the President Christopher ‘Bong’ Go meanwhile said that the President certified the BBL as urgent because he is aware on how vital it is for the said bill to be ratified into law as soon as possible.
The said move of the President contradicts Roque’s previous statement that it might be impossible to get the President to certify as “urgent” the BBL because the House of Representatives and Senate have different versions of the said bill.
During a press briefing at Bontoc, Mountain Province, Roque said that both houses vowed to iron out the differences in their versions soon.
