President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on Monday afternoon successfully cast his vote for the midterm polls at Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School in Davao City.
The chief executive together with his common-law wife Honeylet Avanceña arrived at their respective precinct around 4:00 PM, guarded by the members of the Presidential Security Guards (PSG). This was the first time Duterte voted as a President after he skipped the 2018 barangay polls.
After securing his ballot, Duterte made time to answer some of the questions from the media.
In his statement, the chief executive believes that the results of the 2019 midterm elections would be a referendum for his three-year-old administration. It is no surprise that Duterte is supporting the candidacies of 12 senatorial aspirants: five from his political party PDP-Laban and 7 guest candidates.
“Could be. It could be taken as one as a referendum. So if you agree with me, then you can vote for my candidates or the people I’m supporting in the election,” he said.
